So What's a Plum Granny?

You may be wondering "What exactly is a plum granny?"  We are sooo glad you asked!  And it is really not a new look for our favorite grandma -- purple hair and all!  Nope, a plum granny is the old timey, Appalachian name for what some call a passion flower.  They are vines with beautiful flowers with very showy centers and which bear a small plum-shaped fruit that tastes like passionfruit.  These flowers grow wild around the farm -- especially in the Meadow.  Naming the farm after this flower is a tip of the hat to Cheryl's dad, Holt Ferguson, who told her about the flowers so many years ago on one of their walks in the Meadow.  Thanks Daddy for sharing your knowledge!

Pick-Your-Own Update

 Blackberries in hand

Pick blackberries at Twilight!  Our delicious Triple Crown blackberries are still doing well!  They are loving this heat (as long as we keep irrigating them!)  So we're having another pick-your-own on Sunday (7/24) from 5-7.  Since Sunday is going to be hot, we'll give you the opportunity to pick in the evening when it's a bit cooler -- the blackberry field is really nice at that time of the day.  We'll provide picking containers but please bring a container to take your treasures home -- plus a cooler!  You can't get any fresher than berries you pick yourself and the great thing about our berries is that they are Certified Organic AND no-spray!

Happy berry pickers
